Reflections of a Woman

Pisa, May 10, 2025

The gallery opens the spring season with a collective art exhibition dedicated to the female universe: WOMAN'S REFLECTIONS edited by Antonella Scarfone and Annalisa Pezzulo.

There is a mystery that inhabits every woman's face, a time made of guarded silences and lived expectations.
Every face tells a story.
Every woman is a mother, a daughter, a lover. She is body and soul. Fragile and strong.
The portrait is not a simple image, but a presence that invites us to really look.

RIFLESSI DI DONNA is an art collective that celebrates the essence of the feminine, through the paintings and sculptures of 17 international artists from different countries and different cultural and sexual backgrounds.

Will be an emotional visual journey where each work will tell in its own way the complex and fascinating feminine universe.
Each work will be a fragment of history, the reflection of an experience, an emotion, a thought.
Once you enter the gallery you will have the sensation of walking through a chorus of female voices, silent but powerful.

The art historian and critic Hélène Parmelin, in her “Picasso – The Ladies of Mougins”, published by Electra Editrice, underlines this as an example and summary of one of the most represented and most loved subjects from the Middle Ages to the present day:

“Women dreamed of, women loved, women mocked,
Venuses and Women of Algiers,
giantesses and gentlewomen, Peace and Freedom,
dove-women and mother-women,
superimpositions of features of various women and sweet figures,
women of Boccaccio and Raphael,
whole armies of portraits with all their eyes filled with thoughts.

Woman and her most vivid reality, her most offered and most hidden truth,
his most reliable warhorse in the war of conquest of reality,
its clear symbol which at the same time is not,
the inexhaustible treasure and the enemy who does not lay down her arms,
the joy of living and the torment of painting,
his inseparable companion, his victim and his queen.

Happy faun! Happy and unhappy the centaur-painter, whom no woman on the canvas can satisfy.”
